Tinubu Submits FCTA 2026 Budget to House

President Bola Tinubu has presented the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s (FCTA) 2026 statutory budget proposal to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Reading Tinubu’s letter at Tuesday plenary, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas said the budget, prepared by the FCT Minister, in line with Sections 121 and 299 of the 1999 Constitution.

It aligns with federal fiscal policies, the Renewed Hope Agenda, and the 2025–2028 Economic Recovery Plan, focusing on healthcare, jobs, youth empowerment, social welfare, education, infrastructure, and agriculture to cut poverty.

Tinubu urged expeditious passage, noting last year’s N1.814 trillion approval as benchmark.

The proposal estimated near N1.9 trillion, aims to boost Abuja’s development amid Nigeria’s economic push.

Lawmakers received the document for committee review, with debates expected soon on funding priorities versus revenue realities. This follows pattern of timely FCT budgets supporting capital growth.
