Gombe United have been relegated from the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League after a 2-0 home defeat by Sunshine Stars on Sunday.

Goals from Promise Awosanmi and Lucky Nwafor sealed Gombe United’s fate, sending them down to the Nigeria National League.

Meanwhile, league leaders Enugu Rangers were held to a goalless draw by Sporting Lagos in a matchday 34 game at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Sunday.

Despite dominating possession and having more shots on target, the Flying Antelopes could not break through the hosts’ defense.

The draw allowed their challengers, Enyimba and Remo Stars, to close the gap.
Enyimba beat Rivers United 4-1 on Sunday, and Remo Stars defeated Kano Pillars 2-1 on Saturday, reducing the gap to two points.

Rangers remain at the top of the table with 61 points, closely followed by Enyimba and Remo Stars, both with 59 points.
