The Federal Government’s $1 trillion economy agenda will take centre stage as the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN) marks its 20th anniversary with a national dialogue and awards ceremony in Abuja.

The event, scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Executive Hall of Barcelona Hotel, will bring together policymakers, governors, industry leaders, investors, manufacturers and media professionals.

The dialogue, themed “FG’s $1 Trillion Economy: Role of Policymakers, Stakeholders and Media in Its Actualisation,” will focus on the roles of government and other stakeholders in achieving the ambitious economic target.

Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State and Dikko Radda of Katsina State are among those expected to receive the CICAN Awards of Excellence for their contributions to economic development, industrial growth, investment promotion and job creation.

Also expected to be honoured are heads of agencies under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI), alongside other public and private sector leaders.

The CICAN 20th Anniversary Celebration Committee said the event will also mark two decades of the association’s specialised journalism and its contribution to economic discourse, accountability and public understanding of government policies.

The national dialogue is expected to generate recommendations on how policymakers, the private sector, development partners and the media can support the Federal Government’s drive towards a $1 trillion economy.
