Supreme Court Sets April 22 Hearing for ADC Leadership Feud

The Supreme Court has scheduled April 22 for hearing an appeal by David Mark-led African Democratic Congress (ADC) executives challenging a leadership tussle ruling.

A five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba granted an accelerated hearing and issued filing orders: appellants’ brief by Wednesday; respondents’ briefs within three days; reply brief within one day if needed.

The appeal targets a March 12 Court of Appeal decision upholding a Federal High Court order for status quo, amid Nafiu Bala’s suit claiming the chairmanship.
INEC derecognized Mark’s faction post-ruling.

Mark assumed ADC chairmanship in July 2025 after Ralph Nwosu’s resignation, drawing endorsements from Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, and others for a 2027 coalition.

The verdict could resolve the prolonged crisis.
