Civil Service Kicks Off Accreditation for 5 New Federal Permanent Secretaries

The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has launched an accreditation exercise to select five new federal permanent secretaries, following President Bola Tinubu’s approval.

In a statement Tuesday by OHCSF Press Director Eno Olotu, the process targets eligible candidates from Adamawa, Bayelsa, Enugu, Kano, and Ogun states to fill existing and upcoming vacancies.

Head of Service Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack called the accreditation the “foundational step” in a vital national task shaping the Federal Civil Service’s future leadership. She
urged the committee to uphold diligence, fairness, transparency, and merit.

Chairman of the Accreditation Committee, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Olumuyiwa Abel Enitan, echoed her call, warning that any errors here could tarnish the entire selection.

He stressed teamwork, attention to detail, and strict adherence to guidelines.

Eligibility follows Public Service Rules (PSR) 2021, appointments from serving directors, overseen by the Head of Service with presidential approval, a four-year renewable tenure (max eight years), merit-based selection, and Federal Character compliance via designated states.
