DG, NACA Urges Nigeria’s To Care for Those Living With HIV/AIDS

Director General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA, Temitope Ilori has called on Nigerians to care for those living with HIV/AIDS and stop stigmatising with them, saying it is not a death sentence.

Ilori made the call on Sunday during a special church service at the First Baptist Church, Abuja in commemoration of the 2024 World AIDS Day.

Today, Ilori took the awareness to the first Baptist Church Abuja to educate and inform Nigerians more about HIV and AIDS

She said the aim of celebrating this year’s special day in the church is to collaborate with religious leaders to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, promote prevent, and support those living with the disease.

Ilori urged members to get tested and know their status, embrace and be passionate with those living with HIV as well as encourage them to take medications to reduce its transmission.

She further urged pregnant women to seek anti-natal to hospitals that have facilities to indicate the infection, as well as urged women living with HIV to continue with the drugs hence it is free, to ensure that no child is born HIV positive.

Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Tom Takpatore appreciated NACA for bringing the awareness to his church, assuring that the medical team of the church will continue with the awareness and education about the infection.

HIV test was also conducted by NACA officials in the church.
