FG Warns: Nigerians Baited into Bloody Foreign Wars

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a stark warning against illegal recruitment of Nigerians into foreign armed conflicts, citing rising cases of citizens lured by fake job promises and coerced into combat zones.

Media probes revealed nationals tricked with offers of fat salaries, signing bonuses, educational opportunities and quick citizenship only to face contract traps in unknown languages, passport seizures, and frontline deployment.

A statement by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said agents sneak victims out on tourist visas, violating anti-mercenary laws and endangering lives.

The government stressed personal risk for participants outside official channels, vows probes with global partners, and directs missions abroad to heighten consular alerts. Parents, leaders, and schools must warn youth to verify overseas gigs via official routes and report shady deals.

Nigeria recommits to protecting citizens worldwide from such trafficking scams.
