NASS Suspends Legislative Activities For One Week To Honour Ex-President Buhari

The National Assembly of Nigeria has suspended its Legislative activities in honour of late former President of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari died on July 13, 2025, at about 4:30 pm in London Hospital, United Kingdom.

Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, in a statement said that he was directed by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas to inform members of the National Assembly and the general public that all legislative activities are suspended till Tuesday, 22 July, 2025.

They urged all members of the National Assembly to reschedule their engagements to enable full participation in the burial activities of the late President.

The Leadership of both Chambers extended their heartfelt condolences to:
the government and people of Nigeria, the government and people of Katsina state, and the entire Buhari’s family.

They stated that Buhari will be remembered for his commitment to Nigeria’s unity and his integrity.
