OPHK Troops Smash ISWAP Attack: 16 Killed, 11 Rescued in Borno Blitz

Troops from the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have repelled an ISWAP terrorist assault and launched a counter-offensive in Borno State, neutralising 16 fighters while seizing weapons and supplies.

The operation began on February 5, 2026, near midnight, when ISWAP attacked Forward Operating Base (FOB) Auno.
Sector 1 troops thwarted the raid with superior firepower.

On February 9, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), they pursued retreating terrorists from Komala axis in Konduga LGA to Gidan Kaji, killing 16 and wounding many more who fled.

In a statement on February 10, 2026, Lieutenant Colonel, Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAIs said Forces recovered over 20 bicycles, a large weapons cache, ammunition, and logistics items vital to ISWAP operations.

He disclosed that same day, troops arrested suspected logistics suppliers transporting drugs for terrorists near Bukarti axis.Troops also foiled a kidnap attempt on Buratai-Kamuya road, rescuing Mallam Idris Adamu and Mallam Muhammadu Safiyanu, who were reunited with families in Buratai.

A separate response to a distress call along Chibok-Damboa axis freed nine more victims.
