President Tinubu signs the new national anthem into law

President Bola Tinubu has assented to the bill to return the old national anthem, Nigeria We Hail Thee” into law.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio announced this at a joint session of the National Assembly to mark the twenty-five years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria.

He commended the president for the good work he has been doing since one year of his administration and appreciated him for taking Nigeria back to her root

Akpabio said, “Out of honor and respect, he passed through the National Assembly, his first anniversary taking us back to our ideology and standing together in brotherhood. Henceforth, we will all refer to ourselves as brothers and hail Nigeria.”

President Tinubu who also appeared at the Green Chamber to flag off the new national anthem, thanked the lawmakers for their leadership and commitment to representing the people’s voice.

He said the national anthem, Nigeria We Hail Thee, reflects the nation’s diversity and unity.

“The singing of the new national anthem speaks to our diversity and represents how we’ll blend,” Tinubu stated.

He urged the legislature to collaborate with the executive arm of government to build a strong and better Nigeria for future generations.

He said, “Let us build a nation not only for us but for generations inborn.

Tinubu further urged the two chambers to work collaboratively as no external force could substitute for the collaborative effort needed to build the nation.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, thanked the president for bringing back the old national anthem.

He urged Nigerians to follow it to a logical conclusion to make Nigeria a great nation.
