Rivers Impeachment Frozen: Tinubu’s Peace Deal Holds
By Ifeanyi Austine
The Rivers State House of Assembly has slammed the brakes on impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu.
During Thursday’s resumed sitting, lawmakers adopted a motion to halt the process entirely.
The move followed President Bola Tinubu’s recent intervention, where he met with Fubara, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and assembly leaders.
This breakthrough signals the end of Rivers’ prolonged political crisis, paving the way for stability ahead of key 2026 polls.
