Tinubu Leads Eid-el-Fitr Prayers in Lagos, Urges Unity and Discipline Beyond Ramadan

President Bola Tinubu on Friday joined hundreds of Muslim faithful for Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Ikoyi, Lagos.

His participation highlighted the festivities, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of spiritual reflection, sacrifice, and atonement.

Accompanied by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, top government officials, and aides, Tinubu arrived in Lagos earlier for the holidays.

Eid-el-Fitr, observed worldwide, features intensified prayers for forgiveness, national peace, and prosperity.

Speaking to journalists afterward, the President called on the Muslim Ummah to embody the Prophet’s teachings, extending Ramadan’s lessons in discipline and self-denial to foster national cohesion.

He urged all citizens to sustain the values of patience, tolerance, and neighbourliness from Ramadan and Lent as pillars of nation-building.

Tinubu also reflected on his recent UK visit with First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, where they were received by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, hailing it as a testament to Nigeria’s rising role in the global economy.

In his sermon, Lagos State’s Grand Chief Imam, Alhaji Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla, who led the prayers, stressed Ramadan’s enduring lessons in penitence and piety.

Abou-Nolla called on the faithful to pursue peace and brotherhood amid global challenges.

Tinubu is expected to host Muslim community leaders and stakeholders later as celebrations continue.
