Tuggar’s 2026 Diplomacy Blueprint: Autonomy, Stability, Global Partnerships

Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar hosted the Diplomatic Corps and international organization heads at the Ministry’s 2026 New Year Reception in Abuja on Tuesday.

The event reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to principled diplomacy amid global uncertain tie.

Joined by Minister of State, Bianca Ojukwu and Permanent Secretary, Dunoma Ahmed, Tuggar outlined three pillars guiding Nigeria’s foreign policy to include: Strategic Autonomy, Regional Stability, and Responsible Global Partnership favoring dialogue and cooperation.

He spotlighted economic wins like investment drives in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, digital, and industry, including the West Africa Economic Summit at ECOWAS@50 for regional trade and growth.

On governance, Nigeria partners with UNDP for democratic strengthening in West Africa and the Sahel, prioritising security there.

Tuggar highlighted reforms, a unified FX regime, robust capital markets, modern fiscal tools, making Nigeria investment-ready.

He rallied support for UN bids: CEDAW, Human Rights Council, UNSC 2030 non-permanent seat, and World Heritage 2029.
Ambassadors-designate can begin duties post-protocol copies to Chief of Protocol.

The Ministry remains the sole government communication channel.

The reception included greetings, photos, and networking, affirming Nigeria’s role as a stabilising force for peace, integration, and resilience.
