Wike Fires Back: No Curfew, Just Standard Poll Security, Praises Peaceful FCT Vote

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike has rebuffed Senator criticism over pre-election movement restrictions (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.), calling it routine security not a curfew and urging foes to read statements carefully.

Monitoring AMAC polls, Wike lauded the violence-free exercise despite urban voter apathy:

“Everywhere peaceful, low turnout in the city, but impressive in satellite towns. Minor protests fizzled; no ballot destruction or violence, unlike before.” He noted.

During the voting, security forces excelled with zero major incidents, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and Independent National Electoral Commission Result Viewing Portal ran smoothly, with a full review to follow collation.After 2:30 p.m., the appeal urged calm during counting to foil potential troublemakers.

Wike stressed such measures are election staples, approved by the President.
