Kalu Lauds Foundation For Reversing Brain Drain in Health Sector

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Benjamin Kalu on Tuesday applauded ongoing efforts made by Concern Medics Foundation towards reversing brain drain in the health sector.

Kalu gave the commendation during the launch of partnership between National Hospital, Abuja and concern Medics Foundation aimed at bringing Doctors in Diaspora to support and complement Doctors working in Nigeria.

He pledged the present administration’s support for the initiative, urging stakeholders to follow suit.

He averred that the fact that Nigerian Doctors who have achieved great successes are eager to give back to their motherland is a testament to the great spirit, patriotism and a strong bond that have tied Nigerians together to the country

He said, “As we gather her today, I am reminding of your importance of collective efforts about positive change, transforming Nigeria into a place of bigger opportunity.

“This initiative is a shining examples, of what can be achieved when we work together towards a common goal.

“Nigerian doctors have answered a call to return home, I extend my sincere gratitude and appreciate. This is a of your commitment of your great country.

‘I urge all stakeholders to support this initiative. House of Representatives will always stand with you for this initiative.

“If there are legislative interventions you need to use for this initiative, just let us know, we will always be on the side of people’s doctors because you are now the people’s doctors.”

The Chief Medical Director, CMD of the National Hospital, Abuja, Muhammad Raji Mahmud, harped on the partnership between the diaspora doctors and doctors in Nigeria to revitalise health sector in the country.

He said, “Nigerian Doctors and health workers from different countries will keep coming as far a the numbers increases, the accessibility to optimum healthcare will increase.”

Sadiya Gumi, Chairperson, Concern Medics Foundation appreciated doctors for honoring the call, assuring of a strong synergy to make the initiative stand.
