Tinubu Nominates Tax Reform Chief Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, Shifts Uzoka-Anite to Budget Role

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.

Uzoka-Anite moves to Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, making her third portfolio in the administration in three years.

A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy stated that Tinubu has conveyed the nomination to the Senate today through a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio for confirmation.

Until now, Oyedele from Ikaram-Akoko, Ondo State, chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which overhauled Nigeria’s tax system.

The 50-year-old economist, accountant, and public policy expert holds an HND in accountancy and finance from Yaba College of Technology, a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University, and executive programs from the London School of Economics, Yale University, Gordon Institute of Business Science, and Harvard Kennedy School.

Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, joining in 2001 and rising to Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

He also serves as a professor at Babcock University and visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.
