Tinubu Secures French Aid for Nigeria’s Anti-Terror Fight

President Bola Tinubu has revealed France will supply Nigeria with equipment and training to bolster security forces against terrorism.

He disclosed this on Sunday at his Ikoyi residence during a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, post-Eid-el-Fitr prayers and his UK state visit where he engaged King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on security and trade.

Tinubu secured the pledge in a Saturday call with President Emmanuel Macron.

“In a lengthy discussion with Emmanuel Macron, France agreed to collaborate with us for equipment and support.

“I am making efforts to contact other nations. If we have to spend our goodwill and line of credit, we have those willing to support us with equipment and training.” he said.

Flagging insecurity as his administration’s top challenge, Tinubu called for unified action against terrorism, an enemy of development, progress, and prosperity.

The governors’ meeting followed Maiduguri bomb blasts killing 23 and injuring 108. Tinubu ordered security chiefs, under Vice President Kashim Shettima, to Maiduguri with extra operational aid.

He also warned of Middle East tensions spiking inflation, transport, and food costs, praising governors’ quick response.

Tinubu condoled Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum, vowing tech, equipment, and coordination to crush terrorism.
