ECOWAS, India Deepen Ties For Regional Economics Development

Chief of Mission of the Indian High Commission to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Vartika Rawat, has expressed India’s readiness to expand economic footprint in West Africa.

Rawat disclosed this when he paid a visit to the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Omar Alieu Touray, at the ECOWAS Commission Headquarters, in Abuja.

She said India would leveraging its expertise in technology, agriculture, and manufacturing to support the region’s development goals.

She said, “India sees ECOWAS as a strategic partner in Africa, and we are committed to deepening our cooperation to promote sustainable economic growth and regional stability.”

However, discussions at the high level meeting centered on enhancing economic collaboration, Investment opportunities, capacity-building programs, development initiatives, infrastructure projects, as well as addressing insecurity within the ECOWAS region.

President of ECOWAS Commission, Omar Touray welcomed the India’s partnership zeal, stressing the importance of strengthening economic and security ties between ECOWAS and India.

Touray said collaborating with key global partners like India is essential in tackling shared challenges,from economic development to regional peace and security.
