Troops took a spirited break from the battlefield for the Combined West African Social Activity (WASA) 2025 at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, where military leaders fired up the fight against North-East insurgency.

Operation HADIN KAI Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, vowed an unrelenting final push to wipe out lingering Boko Haram pockets across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.

He hailed the troops’ resilience, sacrifice, and professionalism, key to the fragile peace now holding in many communities, while crediting boosted logistics, welfare, and backing from President Bola Tinubu, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, and Service Chiefs.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, represented by the Secretary to the State Government Bukar Tijjani, praised the military’s grit, and pledged deeper state collaboration for enduring peace, honored fallen heroes, and prayed for the quick recovery of the wounded.

The vibrant event pulsed with cultural dances, an Army-Police tug-of-war showdown, comedy skits, awards for star performers, and a symbolic bonfire lighting, flames of unity, resolve, and hope blazing bright for a terror-free North-East.
