The House of Representatives’ has called for urgent need to investigate the implementation process of loans procured from the Africa Development Bank.

This followed a motion moved by Hon. Bello Ka’oje at plenary.

Leading the debate, Ka’oje stated that President Bola Tinubu had enabled Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Africa Development Bank to procure a non-interest loan to develop the agricultural sector and food security.

He stressed the need to ensure proper scrutiny to the loan implementation process, stating that if properly implemented, the loans have the capacity to boost agricultural production and food security for Nigerians.

He expressed worry that the farmers who are supposed to be the intended beneficiaries are not able to access these funds to procure farm inputs for agricultural production.

The Lawmaker called for an investigation into the reasons behind the non-releases of all the mentioned funds.

The house mandated the Committee on Agricultural Production and Services to carry out the proposed investigation and report back to the House within 2 weeks for further legislative action.
