NiDCOM Hails Rescue of 13 Nigerians from Ghana Traffickers

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa has praised the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana for securing the safe return of 13 trafficking victims, including two babies.

The group,.11 adults, a four-week-old infant, and a 16-month-old toddler arrived home after rescue from a trafficking ring.

NiDCOM’s Head of Operations in Lagos, Mr. Dele Ogunkanmi, received them on behalf of Dabiri-Erewa.

National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) profiled the returnees for reintegration, while NiDCOM handled logistics to reunite them with families across states, and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, provided transport and support, Dabiri-Erewa noted gratefully.

The statement, by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head, Media, Pubic Relations and Protocols Unit of NiCOM said some women and children need ongoing medical and mental health care due to serious conditions diagnosed post-rescue.

Amb. Adeoye, Acting High Commissioner to Ghana, led the effort with partners.
