The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) held former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai for a second night Tuesday at its Abuja headquarters.
This shows signs of prolonged detention if a court remand order is secured.
Commission source revealed intense questioning over his 2015-2023 administration, “For hours, we grilled him on statements from his ex-Finance Commissioner. Mountains of documents to review, he’s not going anywhere.
We’ll seek a court remand soon.”
El-Rufai’s rights are protected, with lawyer access, the source added. Unclear which finance commissioner: Suleiman Abdu Kwari (2015-2019) or Mohammad Bashir Saidu (2019 onward, ex-Chief of Staff).
Meanwhile, the security sources said that DSS plans to arraign him on a three-count charge at Abuja’s Federal High Court over alleged phone tapping of National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
