Oyedele Elevated to Finance Minister in Tinubu’s Cabinet Reshuffle

President Boa Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle in the Federal Executive Council.

A memo signed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, announced that Ministers Wale Edun and Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa will exit the cabinet, with replacements named.

Edun, previously Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, must hand over to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who rises from Minister of State to take the top role.
Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma is named as the new ministerial nominee and minister designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Dangiwa will hand over to the current Minister of State of the ministry.

All handovers must be completed by close of business on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Akume explained the President’s decision: “These changes strengthen cohesion, synergy in governance, and impactful economic delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He noted that Tinubu exercised powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The President thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well, assuring all cabinet members that reinvigoration will continue.
