Some Police operatives have been killed by gunmen at Enugu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra state as Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s convey was attacked.
Sen Ubah who represents Anambra South Senatorial District in the Senate was said to have escaped death as was said to be riding in a bullet proof car.
Currentnews learnt that some of his aides were killed alongside the police officers.
An eyewitness said the gunmen opened fire on the convoy, and police operatives in the convoyed responded, but about six policemen were gunned down.
According to the source, the gunmen may have been after the senator, but there are no evidence to prove this.
The Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that there was an attack on the men of the command at Enugu-Ukwu but insisted that causality figure reminded unknown.
Yes, there was an attack at Enugwu-Ukwu today, but the casualty figure is not clear. As I speak to you, the CP has personally led a team of men to the scene, and normalcy has been restored.” he said.
