FG is Committed to Girl Child Education in Nigeria- VP

The Federal Government has reteirated its commitment to the promotion of education in the country,.most especially for the girl child.

Vice President, Kashim Shettima stated this on Monday at the dinner organised for Children of African Leadership and Values Development Initiatives (CALDEV) in Abuja.

He said educating a girl child means educating the nation, and commended the organisers of the children’s programme for their effort to training vibrant quality leaders of tomorrow.

Shettima disclosed the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of all Nigerian Children, adding that they have prioritised education for is important to nation building.

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, Bamidele Salam who is also Founder of CALDEV had.earlier in the.day called on government to be proactive in addressing insecurity in schools across the country.

He had observed that insecurity is adding to the number of Out-Of-School Children, and he advocated extra security in schools.

Salam expressed support with the children on their calls for a better deal to make their lives better by calling for more investment in education through increased budgetary allocations to education.

On his part, the Deputy Speaker of Children’s Parliament, Ibrahim Zanna called on federal government to work hard to reduce the number of out-of-school children in the country.
