ITF SUPA Artisans in FCT Gear Up for International Certification Exams

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has kicked off certification examinations for 296 artisans trained under the Skill Up Artisans (SUPA) programme in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), advancing the Federal Government’s push to equip Nigerian workers with globally competitive skills.

Supervised by Alberk QA Technic of Turkey, the exams run from Monday, May 18 to Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

They cover over 20 high-demand trades, including Fashion Design, Welding and Fabrication, Cyber Security, Automechanics, Tiling, Bricklaying, Painting and Decoration, Electrical and Electronics, Carpentry, and others vital to Nigeria’s industrial growth.

ITF Director-General, Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, applauded the event as a key step to boost artisans’ global edge and economic empowerment.

He said, “This certification under Alberk QA Technic’s rigorous standards will validate skills and grant internationally recognized credentials,.”

He noted recent preparations, like a mock exam by City & Guilds of London Institute, which approved ITF as an exam center. These efforts aim to enhance employability, mobility, productivity, and earnings for artisans locally and abroad.

Ogun emphasised shifting perceptions of artisanship as inferior, positioning technical skills as drivers of innovation and development.

“Through SUPA, we’re building a skilled generation for Nigeria’s economic transformation,” he added.

Thomas Ngor, Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, ITF said Post-FCT exams, Alberk QA Technic will certify SUPA artisans in other states.

ITF reaffirms its focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for youth productivity and prosperity.
