Federal Government has ordered immediate dissolution of all Anti-Vandalism Teams of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Nationwide.

This followed allegations of compromise and corruption against personnel of the NSCDC

Commandant General of the NSCDC , Dr Ahmed Audi who disclosed this on Tuesday at a press briefing in Abuja, said Federal Government dissolved the Anti Vandalisation Unit, pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation into the matter.

Audi said the dissolution order came from the Minister of Interio,, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, as the action became necessary following reports of misconduct and corruption allegations against personnel

He noted that Civil Defence Corps is saddled with the responsibility of protecting critical assets and infrastructure such as the Oil and Gas Pipelines.

He said “And because there are insinuations that security agencies act as accomplices and because we want to redeem the image of the service due to reports received about our officers in the field, the minister has directed that that department should be re-organized.

The Commandant General said the Corps will change those who have served in the Niger Delta region for six months to one year to another region to avoid compromise by the Officers.
