Ugochinyere Accuses Imo Police of Abducting Constituents, Plot to Frame Him
By Ifeyinwa Ike
The lawmaker representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere, has accused operatives of the Imo State Police Command of abducting his constituents and trying to link him to criminal offences.
He stated this during a press conference at the National Assembly.
Ugochinyere alleged that officers of the Tiger Base unit were torturing arrested constituents in an effort to frame him for terrorism, gun-running and murder.
He also claimed there was a plot to use the courts to deregister opposition parties, including the ADC, Accord Party and APP, ahead of the 2027 elections.
He warned that such moves could heighten political tension, while praising the Court of Appeal for halting proceedings in the deregistration case.
The lawmaker called on the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Service Commission, the Chief Justice of Nigeria and President Bola Tinubu to intervene and protect democratic institutions.
