CBN Warns Nigerians of Fraudulent Messages,Cyber Hack Attempts

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued an urgent alert to the public about fraudulent messages, emails, and online posts falsely claiming to come from the bank.

These scams spread misinformation on CBN leadership, licensing, and policies, often tricking people into clicking malicious links that aim to hack personal accounts. CBN emphasised that its sole official website is www.cbn.gov.ng.

The bank urged Nigerians to verify all CBN communications via the official site and trusted media outlets,
avoid clicking suspicious links or sharing personal details, report fraud to law enforcement.

The bank reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigeria’s financial system, noting ongoing efforts to bolster cybersecurity with partner agencies.
