Aviation Crisis: Minister Offers Compromise, But Airlines Demand Price Cuts
By Ifeyinwa Austine
Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo has proposed a compromise amid escalating tensions with airline operators over high jet fuel costs.
He acknowledged that airlines may need to raise ticket prices further if the deadlock continues, potentially making air travel unaffordable for ordinary Nigerians grappling with inflation and a weakened naira.
The minister noted the meeting had presidential backing, with President Bola Tinubu briefed and closely monitoring the situation.
Operators remain skeptical, warning that empty promises without real price relief could trigger an imminent aviation shutdown.
