Tinubu Reorders 4D Policy, Tasks Envoys on Investments, Diaspora Welfare

President Bola Tinubu has directed Nigeria’s newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners to aggressively chase foreign investments, build strategic partnerships, and revamp the country’s global image amid shifting world dynamics.

Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, at the Induction for Ambassadors and High Commissioners designate in Abuja, Tinubu described their roles as vital in navigating geopolitical shifts, economic volatility, technology disruptions, climate issues, and security threats.

“The international system is evolving rapidly. We must protect and promote Nigeria’s national interest,” Tinubu stated, urging a blend of traditional diplomacy with digital tools, public engagement, and strategic storytelling to highlight his Renewed Hope Agenda.

He pushed for proactive innovation in trade promotion, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attraction, technology transfers, and prioritising Nigerians abroad.

He added that Envoys must embody professionalism, integrity, patriotism, accountability, and prudent resource use to drive economic growth.

Tinubu reordered the 4D foreign policy framework from Democracy, Development, Demography, Diaspora to Demography, Development, Diaspora, Democracy. This places citizens first, ensuring diplomacy yields direct benefits.

“You have a special responsibility in repositioning Nigeria in global affairs. The world is watching,” he added, praising the National Assembly’s quick confirmations and encouraging full participation in the induction program.

The multi-day course equips envoys with skills for today’s diplomatic challenges.
