Edo Police Rescue 9 Kidnap Victims from Benin-Lagos Expressway Attacks

The Edo State Police Command has announced on Saturday the successful rescue of nine victims abducted in two separate kidnapping incidents along the Benin-Lagos Expressway.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the operation followed recent attacks on the busy highway, including an assault on a GUO Transport bus.

Commissioner of Police CP Monday Agbonika swiftly deployed tactical teams, intelligence assets, aerial surveillance, and other resources to the area.

Sustained rescue efforts, including coordinated bush-combing operations and strategic domination of the corridor, pressured the kidnappers into releasing the victims.

All nine have undergone medical evaluation and treatment, and have been reunited with their families.

Four of the victims, abducted earlier this month and held in the Imiegba forest in Agenebode, were among those freed.

The Command has significantly strengthened security along the Expressway and adjoining communities, with tactical, intelligence, and operational assets fully activated.

These deployments will continue until the route is completely safe for all road users.
Police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.

“We are confident that all those involved will be tracked down and brought to justice in the shortest possible time,” the statement added.
