Oyedele Takes Helm as Finance Minister After Smooth Handover from Edun

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, has formally assumed office following a seamless handover from his predecessor, Mr. Wale Edun.

The ceremony took place on Thursday, April 23, 2026, adhering to the timeline set by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Edun’s tenure advanced critical fiscal and economic reforms, stabilising the macroeconomic environment and laying groundwork for sustainable growth.

Key efforts focused on boosting revenue, enhancing fiscal coordination, and supporting the administration’s broader structural agenda.

In his remarks, Oyedele commended Edun for his dedicated service and contributions to Nigeria’s economic reforms.

He expressed deep gratitude to President Tinubu for the trust placed in him and wished Mr. Edun success in future endeavors.

The Permanent Secretary, Finance, Mr. Raymond Omachi, and Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Mr. Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, welcomed Mr. Oyedele on behalf of the ministry’s management and staff. They pledged unwavering support and loyalty to help deliver on his mandates.
