Sulaiman Reappointed NILDS Director General

The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman has been reappointed for another four year term.

Sulaiman who served as a minister of National Planning under the Goodluck Jonathan’s administration was appointed as the Director General of NILDS in 2019.

The Deputy Director of Information/Communication and Protocol at the Institute, Mrs. Joke Akinsanmi disclosed in a statement on Friday that the appointment was approved by the NILDS’ Governing Council, chaired by the president of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan in consultation with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who is also an Alternate Chairman of the Governing Council.

Mrs Akinsanmi stated that the reappointment of Prof. Sulaiman will take effect from May 28, 2023.

The Senate President who applauded the Director General for his commitment in running the affairs of the institute urged him to continue working towards achieving the core objectives of the Institute as outlined in sections 2-3 of the Institute’s Act (as amended).
